The Heart Behind Our Therapy Work
-
Trauma-Informed.
White Rock Therapy is dedicated to providing trauma-informed care, recognizing the profound and far-reaching impact of trauma on an individual's physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Beyond addressing past traumas, our approach involves adapting coping mechanisms developed during and after those experiences to meet current and future needs. We strive to create a safe therapeutic space that empowers individuals through choices and collaborative engagement. At White Rock Therapy, our commitment is to support clients on their journey toward healing and growth, fostering a caring and respectful environment throughout the therapeutic process.
-
Relational Approach.
We firmly believe in the transformative power of genuine relationships, recognizing that many wounds stem from past relational experiences, making it challenging to trust, be vulnerable, and authentically connect. Therapy serves as a space for you to explore and make sense of your relational history. Additionally, the therapeutic process offers opportunities to navigate and process experiences within the session, creating meaningful connections with your life outside therapy. We genuinely care about your journey, aiming to provide an environment where you feel truly heard and understood, fostering a powerful and impactful therapeutic experience at White Rock Therapy.

Experiential Therapies.
At White Rock Therapy, our foundational values revolve around a holistic and evidence-based approach to trauma therapy, emphasizing the use of experiential modalities. We believe deeply in the transformative impact of hands-on techniques that extend beyond traditional talk therapy. By integrating modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IFS (Internal Family Systems Theory), and Somatic Experiencing, we strive to create a dynamic and engaging therapeutic experience. These experiential approaches enable individuals to explore and process emotions, memories, and challenges in an interactive and holistic manner, fostering deeper insights and transformative growth.
Trauma-Informed.
Trauma-informed care means that we treat the whole person. We know that the impact of trauma is far-reaching. We not only help you in working through traumas, but we also address the impact that the traumas have had on your physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
The ways that you may have coped during the trauma and after also may need help with adapting to what might be needed now in the present and going forward in the future. By being trauma-informed, we recognize that those ways of coping sought to help offer relief, protection, or a type of escape.
At White Rock Therapy, we strive to create a safe space for therapeutic work. We want to offer choices and help you feel empowered whenever possible in the work that we do, and we want to work collaboratively with you as you engage in this process.
Relational Approach.
We believe that therapeutic work is done best through relationships. A lot of wounds have occurred through relationships, and this makes it difficult to trust, to be vulnerable and authentic with others, and to receive and give love. Therapy seeks to serve as a conduit where you can share and sort through your relational experiences with others outside of therapy in the session. At the same time, the professional relationship you build with your therapist also helps offer opportunities for you to practice and process experiences in session that may also have an overlap in how things play out in your life outside of your therapy sessions.
We care. We really do. Feeling truly heard and understood is a powerful thing, and we want to have that be your experience in your work at White Rock Therapy.
Experiential Therapies.
Just as in school, you have one or more learning styles; we also have different ways in which we experience change, healing, and growth. Some of the forms of experiential work that may occur in our sessions may include equine therapy, drawing, guided imagery, and parts of self-work. Several of the therapeutic modalities that we are trained in, such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Experiencing work, are also experiential in nature. Experiential therapies can be helpful for those who have experienced trauma, those with anxiety, and those who think they have disconnected from either their body and/or their emotions.
Our commitment to experiential modalities is grounded in extensive research demonstrating their effectiveness in trauma recovery. Studies consistently highlight the benefits of modalities like EMDR, IFS, and Somatic Experiencing in addressing the intricate impacts of trauma. Research suggests that engaging in experiential therapeutic techniques enhances emotional processing, promotes neurobiological regulation, and contributes to more sustainable healing outcomes. At White Rock Therapy, our integrated approach underscores a dedication to providing a therapeutic environment aligned with the latest research findings, ensuring the most effective and comprehensive trauma therapy experience for our clients.
We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.
