Welcome

Welcome to White Rock Therapy! Take some time to get to know us and when you are ready, click on the contact link for us to get a chance to get to know you more as well. Here are a few things that we value and seek to incorporate in our work with our clients.

What We Value

Trauma Informed

Trauma-informed care means that we treat the whole person. We know that the impact of trauma is far reaching. We not only help you in working through traumas but we also address the impact that the traumas have had on your physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual well-being.

The ways that you may have coped during the trauma and after also may need help with being adapted to what might be needed now in the present and going forward in the future. By being trauma-informed we recognize that those ways of coping sought to help offer relief, protection, or a type of escape.

At White Rock Therapy we strive to create a safe space for therapeutic work, we want to offer choices and help you feel empowered whenever possible in the work that we do, and we want to work collaboratively with you as you engage in this process.

Relational Approach

“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.” -Carl Rogers

We believe that therapeutic work is done best through relationships. A lot of wounds have occurred through relationships and this makes it difficult to trust, to be vulnerable and authentic with others and to receive and give love. Therapy seeks to serve as a conduit where you can share and sort through your relational experiences with others outside of therapy in the session. At the same time, the professional relationship you build with your therapist also helps offer opportunities for you to practice and process experiences in session that may also have overlap in how things play out in your life outside of your therapy sessions.

We care. We really do. Feeling truly heard, and understood is a powerful thing and we want to have that be your experience in your work at White Rock Therapy.

Experiential Therapies

Just as in school, you have one or more learning styles, we also have different ways in which we experience change, healing, and growth. Some of the forms of experiential work that may occur in our sessions may include equine therapy, drawing, guided imagery, and parts of self work. Several of the therapeutic modalities that we are trained in such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Experiencing work are also experiential in nature. Experiential therapies can be helpful for those that have experienced trauma, those with anxiety, and those that think they have disconnected from either their body and/or emotions.

A woman looking off into the distance at a sunset. At White Rock Therapy we support those navigating past traumas and personal struggles. Learn more about how a trauma therapist in Dallas, TX and surrounding areas can help you.
